There are often one or two pieces of pizza left over. These still taste good the next day – provided you reheat them properly. myHOMEBOOK presents different methods and reveals which is the best.
Some people simply eat leftover pizza cold from the box, while others want to relive the crispy, warm taste of the night before. But how do you reheat pizza properly without ending up disappointed with a soggy base and tough cheese? There are various methods – but not all of them are equally suitable.
By the way, pizza should not be stored in a box at room temperature for more than two hours. It is better to put the leftovers in cling film or airtight packaging in the fridge.

Reheating Pizza – 4 Methods Compared
Pizza can be reheated in four different ways: in the toaster, in the microwave, in the oven, or in a pan. Which method produces the best results?
The Worst Idea: The Toaster
It is becoming increasingly common to see people reheating their pizza in the toaster. One option is to set up the bun attachment and place a slice on top. However, this only heats the underside while the topping remains cold. The longer you leave the piece on, the more likely it is that the bottom will burn. If the topping does get hot at some point, cheese can run into the toaster and burn.
This is why the second toasting method is not recommended. Here, you place the toaster on its side so that you can place the pizza horizontally in the slots to heat it up. This way, the pizza is heated all around, but the toppings can stick to the heating elements and burn.
Rarely Successful: Baking Pizza in the Microwave
The microwave also has its pitfalls when it comes to reheating pizza. After a few minutes, the slices are usually either soggy and chewy or rock-hard. Often, only the pizza base is hot, while the top has not been heated properly. The optimum combination of heat and time is difficult to find.
Heat the Pizza in the Oven: The Most Time-Consuming Method
Using the oven is a common method for reheating pizza. After all, you also use it to bake frozen pizza. However, the process takes a lot of time: you have to preheat the oven, line it with baking paper, and then put the pizza in for a few minutes.
The result is often disappointing. As the pizza has already been baked, it can quickly burn if it is too hot, and if it is not hot enough, the whole slice is not heated. Another challenge is the right amount of time.
The Best Method: Reheating Pizza in a Pan
Very few people know this method, but it is the simplest and most effective. Simply place the pizza slices in a pan large enough to accommodate them – without adding oil or butter – and warm them up for a few minutes over medium heat. They are particularly tasty if you cover the pan with some aluminum foil, as this allows the heat to spread evenly.
